Steeped in history, Gulmarg was a favored retreat for Mughal emperors and later became a summer escape for British colonial rulers. Originally named Gaurimarg after Goddess Parvati, it was renamed Gulmarg, meaning “Meadow of Flowers,” by Sultan Yusuf Shah in the 16th century. Today, its historic charm blends seamlessly with its natural beauty and adventure appeal.
